fernandolins I'm going through this phase where I don't want to work another 7 years with what I've been doing so far (interface design and icon illustration), and would like to change directions. Mostly focus on typography and branding. However I've made my "name" in the Mac icon/interface industry and I don't have much of a portfolio of something else to start again. Sometimes I feel like it was an error to get into such an specific area of graphic design, even though I don't regret any of the work I've done so far and had lots of fun with them. Did anyone go through this, could share some tips, or maybe just pitch a few ideas?

fernandolins @lindqvist Yeah the industry is changing, a lot of people now have easier access to music production software and hardware and are delivering their tunes through the web - faster, cheaper, farther reach -, just like I am. I love the feel and sound of a vinyl bu there's that down side, you don't get to play the fresh new experimental stuff the young kids are doing nowadays.

fernandolins @nomology I understand that, that's why I used the term minimalism and not just minimal, because this minimal-ism is a trend where people (designers?) think that having few elements, colors, etc. will make their designs minimal, when it won't. They are cluttered with unnecessary elements but just because they're only monochrome and use a single typeface they're referred to as minimal.
