Yay! I managed to finally understand more or less how this works!
    ...Now what?

Pretty much sums up the issue here. Found a quote that sums up the other problem:
“google wave was built to show younger people how older people feel when they attempt to use the internet.”ー @jheftmann via @ilovetypography

luxandrose Funny thing, wave will have two types of accounts I think. One for large corporations and then one for the petty low class of society. I can see a multi thousand employee company one day sending a thousand people home and tell them to install this program and its on like donkey kong. Just my thought.

kblair I scored an invite from a friend and have the same problem as everyone else -- nobody to talk to. It's a drag. And it's impossible to tell if it will actually be cool or useful without people to talk to on it. However, Google seems to be decent at matching up contacts with people on Wave ... My list of contacts actually grew. I'd start yabbering at some of you but ... awkward?

davidh But I feel like they have to hurry up and make Wave cool before the interest dies down. Otherwise people who do have accounts will blab too much about how useless it is. It's not like dropular or FFFOUND where anyone can just go to the website and see how cool it is and want in.

ravivasavan I can't really put this into solid use yet, like people have said – won't be in full effect until it is open to public and for the developers to start flurrying in their extensions and Wave's API being used around the interwebs. So, I shall wait with patience.

thatothertime before they made some improvements it was nice to break it in real time, I think you can still edit someones text as theyre typing. it becomes really confusing and annoying, so other than just having fun and a laugh, or working on some concepts/ideas with someone I dont see any use for it and dont use it much.

pyramd no it's not, you have to be signed into wave to communicate on to or from any source, but with extensions and eventually (maybe) some shared API keys and developer technology will expand the limits of communication.

Markle It has potential but the utility won't be there until they incorporate it into one of their other products. I could see it replacing email at some point. Intuitive, nice...
Newly-invited users aren't getting 'nominations' any more and the wave team has said they're holding the user # where it is for the time-being.

pyramd @frdrk by the way, invites don't send instantly, even if someone invites you it is only a "Nomination" and Google will still choose when they invite you. I would suggest signing up every single e-mail address you have until you get one. And ALWAYS leave a personalized message. http://wave.google.com

If you have google wave: What is your @googlewave.com address?
